Plane:
Most airlines will propose a connection to Montpellier via Paris. If you arrive in Roissy Charles de Gaulle, select a flight to Montpellier that starts from the same airport. There might be a flight form Orly, but keep in mind it is about 1h from Roissy and transfer might be at your charge (16 €).
There are low costs from several hubs from Europe (Frankfurt Hahn, London Stansted, etc) but they are ill connected to main airports. There are shuttles that connect the airport to the train station, which is at walking distance to the conference center.
Taxis are available at the airport and the fare to the conference center is about 20 €. (Map of town here)

Train:
The airport Roissy Charles de Gaulles is directly deserved by a TGV station (high speed train). This solution is recommended for those who plan to stay a few days in Paris (either before or after the conference). The TGV train will get you, for about 100 €, from downtown Paris (gare de Lyon) to walking distance of the conference center in about 3h30.
Please tell there that the TGV leaves directly from CDG and arrives downtown Montpellier. It takes 3.5 hours.

Walking in Montpellier downtown:
The congress center is touching the historical center of Montpellier (called « l’ecusson », from its shape) consisting of narrows tortuous stoned-paved streets that lead to the « place de la comedie ». Numerous bars and restaurant will greet you here. However keep in mind that, as in any large city, you should avoid to get lost alone late in the night in obscure streets (and speaking french doesn’t really help). There is absolutely no life threatening problem to fear, but you might be asked, in a rather impolite way, for financial support. (Map of town here)

Getting money:
ATM machine are very common around and accepts most of the usual credit carts. Foreign currencies can be exchanged at the « banque courtois », located on the place de la comedie.
Medical care:
There are plenty of “pharmacies” where you can found common things like aspirin or other common things.
If more serious problem will occur, emergencies teams can reach the place in a very short time in fully equiped van and people can be transported in one of the numerous renowned medical centers that are around Montpellier.
