CNT / Polysaccharide complexes

Polymer wrapping around a CNT is a promising way to functionalize CNT non-covalently and reversibly for different applications since it does not alter their physical properties. This can also allow the CNT dispersion in aqueous solutions, which is indispensable for biological applications.

In collaboration with H. Bizot and A. Buléon, we are interesting in amylose/CNT system, where amylose is a polysaccharide constituent of starch. Our work deals with the preparation and handle of amylose/CNT complexes. Different preparation routes are used : in aqueous solutions in presence of surfactant molecules, by direct mixing or in presence of non-conventional solvents.

CNT/amylase/surfactant complexes are already been synthesized. The other preparation routes allow the elaboration of different types of complexes, that are currently prepared. This complexation is reversible by enzymatic hydrolysis. Complexation of another polysaccharides are now under study. It is a good starting point for the realization of bio-sensors.

Another CNT/Bio-molecules complexes
  • CNT/DNA complexes already successfully synthesized
  • A collaboration, involving P. Bertoncini and M.H. Ropers (INRA-BIA) is engaged for the elaborating CNT/phospholipids complexes
  • The study of the interaction between photosensitive membrane proteins and CNT will start soon (resp. P. Bertoncini).
