Biography

Eric Faulques is Director of Research from CNRS working at the Institut des Matériaux Jean Rouxel of Nantes (UMR6502, http://www.cnrs-imn.fr/). He graduated from the Universities of Orleans, and Paris XI (Orsay) (1979-1982), and holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Nantes (1986, supervisor Serge Lefrant). He is physicist and material scientist with specialisation in optical spectroscopy. In 1988 he had a postdoctoral position by Hans Kuzmany at the Institut für Festkörperphysik, Vienna, Austria, to work on phonon calculations of conjugated polymers. He visited the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 1991-1992, USA, where he worked with Rick Russo. In February 2011, he joined the Computational Nanocience Group headed by Elena Bichoutskaia to perform studies on structural and phonon calculations of hybrid carbon nanotube and graphene materials. He has published more than 100 papers in scientific journals, and has organized two international meetings in 1998 (Dallas) and 2003 (Sudak) dedicated to spectroscopy works published in two books (ACS Series and Kluwer). E. Faulques is a referee of a number of scientific journals (APS journals: Physical Review - Letters , Elsevier journals, ACS journals). He has carried out expertise jobs for the European Commission and a French region. He has strong experience of high level international research and collaborates with several groups in Europe and America. Language skills: English, German, and Russian.
