Description of the research topic

A high temperature fuel cell testing system has been designed and built in order to evaluate the performances of our cells under different operating conditions (T° and gas) (Fig. 1).

Fig. 1 :Fuel cell testing system and the target for fuel cell performances

3 types of button cells were synthesized and tested:
Materials : electrolyte : BaIn0.3Ti0.7O2.85; anode : 18.7%-vol. Ni/BaIn0.3Ti0.7O2.85; cathode : La0.8Sr0.2MnO3-δ

(1) Electrolyte supported cell:
  • thick and dense pellet of electrolyte + slurries of anode and cathode

(2) Anode supported cell (co-densified):
  • co-pressing and co-firing of powders of anode and electrolyte materials + slurry of cathode

(3) Anode supported cell (spray pyrolysis):
  • thick and porous pellet of anode + spray pyrolysis of electrolyte + slurry of cathode
