Created in September 2022 and inaugurated on November 30, this joint laboratory structures and strengthens a scientific collaboration that has been underway for more than twenty-five years between IMN and Blue Solutions (formerly BatScap) around all-solid battery technologies known as Lithium Metal Polymer (LMP).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The joint laboratory aims to develop future generations of &#8220;all-solid&#8221; lithium metal batteries known as GENERATION 4, combining fundamental materials research and understanding of physico-chemical mechanisms with the constraints of industrial development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By bringing together academic researchers and industrial engineers to tackle common problems, <\/span><b>IMNBlue Lab<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> aims to <\/span><b>remove major scientific barriers to the performance, durability and safety of all-solid lithium metal batteries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, particularly in the context of electric mobility.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-text-2\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All-solid-state batteries are a promising technology for improving the safety and performance of electrochemical storage systems. <\/span><b>Lithium metal polymer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> technology developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blue-solutions.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blue Solutions<\/a> offers advantages in terms of thermal stability and energy density.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, several scientific challenges remain to optimize these systems and improve their long-term performance:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stability of electrode\/polymer electrolyte interfaces<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">high-voltage operation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ageing and degradation mechanisms<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">optimizing cell architectures for fast charging<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IMNBlue Lab was created to <\/span><b>understanding of these phenomena and develop<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> scientific solutions to improve the performance of all-solid-state batteries.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-3 fusion_builder_column_3_4 3_4 fusion-flex-column\" class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;\"><p style=\"text-align: left;\">A long-term scientific collaboration<\/p><\/h3><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The collaboration between IMN and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bollore.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bollor\u00e9 Group<\/a> began in 1997, and is part of a long-standing research partnership based on battery technologies. Since the 2000s, two successive Technological Research Teams (ERT) have structured joint research programs designed to address the scientific and technological challenges associated with the first generations of lithium metal polymer batteries. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over time, this cooperation has expanded to include several major collaborative projects, notably ALEP (2001-2005), dedicated to polymer-electrolyte lithium batteries, ALEPH (2015-2018), dedicated to improving the performance of LMP batteries, and GreenHope (2015-2019), exploring new generations of aqueous batteries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This long-term collaboration has produced numerous scientific and technological results, with 7 co-supervised theses, 6 post-doctoral positions, over 50 scientific publications and 13 international patents. The creation of the joint IMNBlue Lab extends and strengthens this historic cooperation between academic research and industrial innovation. href=\"https:\/\/www.blue-solutions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(Blue Solutions<\/a>), this joint laboratory brings together the IMN research team specializing in electrochemical energy
