Optimization of cementitious materials by mechano-activation of clays: study of microstructural modifications

The aim of this thesis is to define the optimum conditions for the mechano-activation of TOT clays (smectites, illites, etc.), in order to optimize their reactivity in compound cements. In the course of the study, and based on the skills of both teams, the PhD student will combine monitoring of the structural transformation of clays during mechano-activation (by calorimetry, DRX and Rietveld analysis, solid state NMR(29Si, 27Al, 1H), thermal analysis and infra-red spectroscopy), monitoring the evolution of physical properties (specific surface area, size distribution and properties at particle interfaces), monitoring their reactivity in cementitious water, and evaluating the rheological and mechanical behavior of cementitious materials incorporating these additives.

Full description : PDF download

Contact: Dimitri DENEELE(Dimitri.Deneele@cnrs-imn.fr)

PhD student (M/F) in materials science

The person recruited will be assigned to the Electrochemical Energy Storage and Transformation (ST2E) team.

Subject Advanced formulation of composite electrodes and integration of polymer electrolytes for the development of all-solid state molecular anion-ion batteries in pocket cells.

In the context of the energy transition, the development of new electrochemical storage technologies is a major challenge.
