The official ceremony, followed by a scientific symposium, highlighted the cutting-edge research in the field of inorganic energetic materials for energy carried out jointly by Bordeaux, Nantes and Kyoto and Nantes, as well as their extensive academic and educational cooperation.

The creation of this OSL is part of the continuity of long-standing scientific collaborations between our institutions, supported by major international programs (such as the CNRS IRP “Mixed Anions” project and the JSPS Core-to-Core and JST ASPIRE programs in Japan). Building on this momentum, an international cooperation agreement between Kyoto University and Nantes University (involving IMN and the two components Faculté des Sciences et des Techniques and Polytech Nantes), currently being finalized, will formalize a global framework for the development of joint teaching and research programs.

On the Japanese side, the project is led by Professor Hiroshi Kageyama (Kyoto University), a leading figure in materials chemistry in Japan, ambassador to CNRS Chimie en 2025 and co-editor of the international journal Inorganic Chemistry. On the French side, the project is coordinated at IMN by Olivier Hernandez (, Professor at Nantes University), at IMN by Shunsuke Sasaki (CNRS research fellow), Laurent Cario (CNRS research director) and at ICMCB by Alain Demourgues (CNRS research director) and Cédric Tassel, Professor at Bordeaux INPde l’Université de Bordeaux within ICMCB.

Kyoto University, one of the world’s most prestigious universities, has been a privileged scientific partner of IMN and ICMCB for several years. This new tripartite OSL could also pave the way for the creation of a future CNRS International Research Laboratory (IRL), strengthening the national and international influence of CNRS, Nantes University, the University of Bordeaux and Bordeaux INP.

Numerous academic and institutional figures from France and Japan were also present, underlining the academic, scientific and institutional scope of this Franco-Japanese collaboration: Yasuyuki KONO, Vice-President of Kyoto University, Takehiko YOKOMINE, Vice-Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University, Toshiyuki TAKAGI, Director of the Strasbourg office of JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science), Hirotaka YAMADA, Director, Paris Office, JST (Japan Science and Technology Agency), Thierry LOISEAU, Scientific Delegate, Section 17, CNRS Chemistry Institute, Sylvie RENAUD, Vice-President, Bordeaux INP, Isabelle RICHARD, Vice-President, Europe and International, Nantes Université, Olivier GRASSET, Vice-President of Research and Open Science at Nantes Université, Antoine GOULLET, Deputy Director of Research at the Science and Technology Division of Nantes Université, Stéphane GACHET, elected member of the Pays-de-la-Loire Regional Council, Aziliz GOUEZ, Vice-President, Higher Education and Research, Nantes Métropole, Cyril AYMONIER, Director, ICMCB, CNRS-Université de Bordeaux-Bordeaux INP, Florent BOUCHER, Director, IMN, CNRS-Nantes Université.

Official inauguration of the international shared laboratory (On-Site Laboratory, OSL) […]

[46,49,48

post-3462","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-events","category-miops","category-pmn
["GET
