Abstract<\/strong>: Materials whose luminescent properties can be modulated in response to external stimuli are attracting growing interest for the development of numerous applications, such as strain detection, optical recording, and information storage. Among these materials, mechanochromic luminescent materials are characterized by a change in their luminescence properties in response to external mechanical stress, such as grinding. Transition-metal-based materials\u2014and in particular those based on copper(I) halide\u2014are of interest due to their great structural diversity, their varied photophysical properties, and their economic and environmental advantages stemming from the low cost and limited toxicity of copper. <\/p>\n In this context, this thesis focuses on the study of new copper(I) iodide-based mechanochromic luminescent materials. New materials were synthesized, and their structure and optical properties were characterized. Particular attention was paid to understanding the relationships between the structure and optical properties of these compounds.
