Photoactive Hybrid Polyoxometallates

We are specialized in designing new photochromic and/or photoluminescent hybrid organic-inorganic materials based on polyoxometalates (POMs) which are anionic molecular transition metal-oxide clusters (Mo, W, V). These innovative smart systems exhibit remarkable photophysical properties in the solid state that are highly tunable by varying the nature of the inorganic and inorganic components, and their degree of interaction in the hybrid frameworks. These materials have potential technological and marketable applications such as ophthalmic lenses, smart pigments for paints and windows, optical switches, photoswitchable receptors, high-density optical data storage, and chemosensors.

Photochromic hybrid polyoxometalates

We design new solid-state photochromic materials that exhibit reversible light-induced color changes. These systems are of great interest in a wide range of marketable applications (pigments for paints and windows, cosmetics, UV sensors), and other promising technological applications in photonic (optical switches, 3D high-density optical data storage).


Photoluminescent hybrid polyoxometalates

We design new photoluminescent hybrid organic-inorganic materials in which POMs are used as efficient redox and optically active co-factors to tune the energy or the emission intensity of exogenous organic molecules in the solid state.
