The MEMPACAP project (48 months) aims to fabricate compact, packaged fast-charging storage micro-sources with high storage capacity, operating over a wide temperature range (-40 to 150°C) and delivering a unit cell voltage that can be modulated from 10 to 50 volts.  To achieve this, the micro-source will combine a large-area metal electrode covered with a dielectric film with a (pseudo)capacitive electrode to form a hybrid micro-capacitor. Ion conduction will be ensured by a solid electrolyte of the ionogel type in its most advanced version. As the surface capacitance of a flat metal/dielectric electrode is low, it will be exacerbated by the use of a 3D hierarchical skeleton with a high developed surface area, on which the electrode materials (metal and insulator) will be deposited. The second (pseudo)capacitive electrode will be deposited on the rear face of a hermetically sealed cover (fig. 1a-c). The application field are numerous: powering sensors in the automotive industry, implanted defibrillators for the medical sector, energy sources for radars and power lasers, for aerospace and military applications. This collaborative project brings together 4 laboratories (IEMN, UCCS, IMN, CIRIMAT) with complementary expertise.
