The SONIC project aims to develop metal-free electrochemical energy storage through the exclusive use of organic materials. It is organized around a multi-disciplinary technical and scientific platform that will supply innovative, long-lasting anion-inserted organic electrode materials (“p-type”) compatible with single-anion polymer electrolytes, enabling the manufacture of prototype anionic all-solid-state batteries. Starting with a TRL1, the aim is to demonstrate the concept of all-solid anionic molecular batteries aiming for more than 2 V output voltage, while taking into account the issues of scale for future exploitation (a TRL3 is targeted at the end of the project).
