The efficiency of electrode materials in fuel cells and oxide electrolyzers is strongly impacted by their surface acidity. BATELCAT aims to use a simple infiltration protocol to modify the surface acidity of a wide variety of mixed-conduction oxides, and systematically study their catalytic activity with respect to gas-solid reactions taking place at the air and fuel electrodes of these cells. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the link between surface acidity and reaction kinetics, which will enable us to propose solutions to improve the performance and durability of these systems.
