Biography:

Philippe Moreau is Professor at the Institut des Matériaux de Nantes Jean Rouxel (Nantes University – CNRS). An engineering graduate of ENSIC Nancy, he obtained a PhD in materials chemistry in Nantes, before specializing in EELS spectroscopy at the Cavendish Laboratory (University of Cambridge). An expert in transmission electron microscopy (TEM/STEM), he has been developing high-resolution structural and spectroscopic characterization approaches for over twenty years, notably on the Nant’Themis monochromate microscope. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in inorganic chemistry, crystallography, electron microscopy and electron spectroscopy. His research focuses on structural analysis at different scales, fine chemical analysis, oxidation states and electronic excitations, particularly as applied to battery materials. In this case, he is interested in electrochemical degradation, interfaces and lithiation mechanisms. He is involved in several industrial and academic projects (national and European) on nanomaterials and materials for all-solid or liquid electrolyte batteries.

Teaching :

Lectures, practical work, laboratory tests at all levels of the university from L1 to M2 (12 different teaching units), mainly in general and inorganic chemistry, and spectroscopic (EELS, EDX, etc.) and microscopic (MET, SEM, etc.) characterizations.
