The aim of the MADNESS project is to combine artificial intelligence with inorganic synthesis to answer a simple but complex question: how can we speed up the search for materials using synthesis techniques that are difficult to automate? Our case study will be molten salt synthesis, an original method whose potential to open the way to new materials has been emerging for several years, but which is not suited to automation and high-throughput screening.
