Intervention in high schools in collaboration with CNRS

Olivier Joubert, teacher-researcher at IMN and Director of the CNRS Hydrogen Research Federation, and Sara TALEB, doctoral student in the ST2E team, recently visited the Lycée Ambroise Paré and the Lycée Douanier Rousseau in Laval.
This initiative follows the publication of the book “Etonnante chimie” (2021, CNRS, CNRS EDITIONS), in which Olivier Joubert led the writing of an article entitled “De l’hydrogène pour faire de l’électricité”.
Olivier Joubert gave a presentation of the hydrogen industry, from production to conversion into electricity using a fuel cell, highlighting the results presented in the article in response to concrete problems in the industry and in relation to the concepts in the high school physics/chemistry syllabus.
Sara TALEB presented her career and research work. She gave an account of the place of women in science, and shed light on the scientific and technical training offered to high school students today.
This was followed by a Q&A session on scientific content and research careers.
These meetings are part of the “Chimie et Physique étonnantes pour un Grand oral percutant” project in theAcadémie de Nantes, a partnership between CNRS and the French Ministry of Education.
