We are very pleased to welcome Florent Pawula as an associate professor at Nantes University in the Faculty of Science and Technology.

After completing his PhD at CRISMAT (Laboratory of Crystallography and Materials Science, UMR 6508) on the “Particularities of Ruthenium Oxides Probed by the Seebeck Effect,” Florent Pawula undertook his first postdoctoral fellowship at LCPO – Laboratory of Organic Polymer Chemistry in Bordeaux, where he studied the transport properties of conductive polymers and hybrid perovskites. Following the award of two research grants from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), he then undertook a second postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in Tsukuba, Japan, in collaboration with the Laboratory for INnovative Key Materials and Structures (LINK- CNRS / Saint-Gobain , IRL 3629), hosted by the National Institute for Materials Science. His research activities then focused on the “development of new thermoelectric chalcogenic materials assisted by active machine learning and Bayesian optimization.”

He then joinedthe Institut des Matériaux de Nantes as an LRU faculty member at the University of Nantes within the Physics of Materials and Nanostructures (PMN) team to conduct research on “the ultrafast dynamics of the Mott transition under optical and electrical pulses, as well as on unconventional superconductivity and topological phases in transition-metal dichalcogenide misfits.”

Deeply involved in the life of the laboratory, Florent is in charge of the Physical Property Measurement System (Dynacool, QD) at the PLASSMAT platform, and he is also a member of the Equality Committee – Parity Committee to promote gender equality, diversity, and inclusion in research, as well as to prevent gender-based and sexual violence.
