The 14th edition of the EELS Conference (JEELS 2026), organized by our institute, came to a close after three days of fruitful scientific discussion.

This conference brought together nearly 70 scientists from France and abroad (Ireland, England, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, etc.) who specialize in electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). Experimentalists and theorists thus had the opportunity to share their latest results in English during oral presentations and a poster session, and to discuss recent developments and future prospects for this cutting-edge characterization technique.

Their contributions covered key topics such as: EELS applied to 2D materials, energy materials, liquids, and gases; the development of instrumentation and related applications; advances in EELS in the low-loss and core-loss regions; in situ, operando, and cryo-EELS; tomography and EELS; deep learning, automation of data acquisition and signal processing; new methods for acquiring EELS spectra on sensitive materials…

The awards for best oral presentations were presented to Sylvain Laforet ofthe University of Lille and Ayoub Benmoumen of Aix-Marseille University. The award for best poster went to Marie Joyeau ofthe IMN.
