Biography:
Thomas Devic obtained his PhD in 2003 from the University of Angers. After a postdoctoral stay at Cornell University, USA, under the supervision of Stephen Lee, he was recruited to the CNRS at the Institut Lavoisier in Versailles, France, in 2004, within the “Porous Solids” research group headed by Gérard Férey. In 2016, he joined the Institut des Matériaux Jean Rouxel, in Nantes, France, where he is currently CNRS Research Director. His research focuses mainly on organic-inorganic hybrid materials, with a particular emphasis on synthesis and structural characterization. He is interested in the development of new hybrid compounds (salts, complexes and coordination polymers, MOFs), in particular based on non-trivial organic building blocks, the use of high-throughput tools to achieve this, their in-depth structural characterization using various analytical techniques (XRD, NMR, infrared…) and their applications in various fields, such as gas capture and electrochemical and thermal energy storage. He has supervised more than 20 doctoral and post-doctoral students, and participates in various academic and industrial collaborative projects.
